Luke 23:44-46 (NIV) It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour, v.45 for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. v.46 Jesus called out with a loud voice, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." When he had said this, he breathed his last.

You see… we are facing a lot of options or choices in this world. We need to be very careful in making our choices, because our choices will determine our destiny. When it comes to our salvation we are also facing a lot of choices. You can choose salvation through Christ’s death or salvation through our own works. If we choose salvation through the cross we are assured of our eternal destiny in Heaven. Today, allow me to share more thoughts on the importance of the death of Jesus Christ.
I – CHRIST’S DEATH WAS FORETOLD BY GOD.
A. Isa 53:8 (NASV) By oppression and judgment He was taken away; And as for His generation, who considered, that He was cut off out of the land of the living, For the transgression of my people to whom the stroke was due?
B. Dan 9:26 (NASV) Then after the sixty-two weeks the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing…
C. Zech 13:7 (NASV) “Awake, O sword, against My Shepherd, And against the man, My Associate," Declares the LORD of hosts. "Strike the Shepherd that the sheep may be scattered; And I will turn My hand against the little ones.
II – CHRIST’S DEATH WAS APPOINTED BY GOD.
A. Isa 53:6 (NASV) All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him.
B. Acts 2:23-24 (NIV) This man was handed over to you by God's set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross.
III – THE IMPORTANCE OF CHRIST’S DEATH.
A. It is the manifestation of God’s love.
Rom 5:8 (NIV) But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

| - Jesus became our substitute. |
B. Christ’s death gave us a direct access to God.
Luke 23:45 (NASV) The sun being obscured; and the veil of the temple was torn in two.
The temple had three parts:
1. The courts for all the people.
2. The holy place where only priests can enter.
3. The holy of holies where only the High Priest could enter once a year to atone for the sins of the people.
The holy place and holy of holies were separated or divided by a veil that is 60 ft. high from the ceiling to the floor.
- The rending of the veil signified two things:
a. The middle wall of partition between Jews and Gentiles was broken down. Eph. 2:14-18
b. Now, each believer can have personal access to God. Heb. 9:1-14, 10:19-23

| we are separated from God until the veil was torn |
Heb 4:16 (NASV) Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need.
C. Christ’s death gave us the assurance of our redemption.
The sinner in bondage was bought back by God with a certain price.
1.PEOPLE’s way to be saved: ( does not give any assurance that you will be saved!)
a. Being devoted to religion. Acts 10:1-7
b. Good works. Eph. 2:8-9
c. Doing penitence.
2. FAITH on the death of Christ will give us the assurance of redemption.
1 Peter 1:18-19 (NASV) Knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, v.19 but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.
D. Christ’s death reconciled us to God.
E. Christ’s death paid the ransom for our sin.
F. Christ’s death disarmed Satan and his authorities.
G. Christ’s death gave us the assurance of His promises.
CONCLUSION:
Jesus died for you and me. He died not for His own sin but for our sins. Make your move now by receiving Him as your Lord and Savior. Remember, what He has done on the cross answer all your problem concerning sin.
This is shared by Pastor Frankie Beato of Church of God's Miracle.
Have a meaningful Holy week to us! God bless us all.
